Vintage Wisdom Oracle deck by Victoria Moseley- K's Contribution

Hello again everyone! K here, contributing once again to my lovely friend's blog.


I thought today I'd write a little bit about one of my favourite Oracle decks, the Vintage Wisdom Oracle by Victoria Moseley.

This beautiful deck kept standing out to me every time I would be browsing the cards in stores or online- once I saw what the cards looked like inside, I knew this was a deck for me! 

The most wonderful thing about this deck is that the cards have a very gentle energy and the messages of each one are quite clear, telling a story within the beautiful vintage images. If you are unsure about the card you have pulled for a reading, there is a helpful book that comes with the deck, giving each card an in-depth explanation. The deck contains 52 high-quality cards.

I had heard that this deck is a great intuitive way to read, and can produce similar results to tarot. As someone who is still learning the ways of tarot reading, I am finding that using these once or twice a week supports and inspires my learning curve, promoting deeper self-reflection.

I honestly love this deck so much and can't get enough of looking at the beautiful, ethereal images! If you love unique vintage art and an easy-to-use deck, this is definitely something you should pick up.

THE LOVE OF TAROT--BOOK?

Help...😸

I want to find a book, like a "big picture book" with "beautiful pictures",with some explanations, and history of tarot...Maybe with a title such as, "The Love of Tarot". I can see such a book in my minds eye, but I don't have a title for it. I have written to Watkins Books in London, UK for a recommendation so see what they come up with. I may have to grab my daughter and check out some old bookstores and go for lunch some day soon, and see if i can find such a book. Has anyone got any recommendations? I think the earliest that's "recorded" for Tarot is "playing cards" around about the 1370's- 1400's in Milan, Italy.
It's thought the "Playing cards"  arrived from Mamluk, Egypt during the 1370s. Mamluk cards used suits of cups, coins, swords, and polo-sticks.

Polo was not known in Italy, so the Italians changed them into batons. Each region of Italy had its own variation. Spain had its own variation of the cards as well.
Tarot cards- were invented during the early 15th century in northern Italy as a permanent suit of trumps (trionfi, - 15th-century Italian playing cards with symbolic content related to those used in the tarocchi game. Below are some Italian men playing a "card game", and maybe the game is Tarocchini (I heard the game is very involved)....bravo!  Wonder if the pope plays, he seems a pretty cool guy 😉

Italy, France, Switzerland, Spain and most of central and northern Europe, seem to be where Tarot cards got their start, with thanks to "playing cards" from Egypt in the 1300's. There is thought that real tarot card reading may have started in ancient Egypt, but there is no documented evidence of this before the 18th century. 
*Divination using playing cards is recorded as early as 1540, apparently in The book Oracles of Francesco Marcolino da Forli (a very simple method of divination).  A manuscript from 1750 (Pratesi Cartomancer) documents rudimentary divinatory meanings for the cards of the tarot. In 1765,Casanova wrote in his diary that his Russian mistress frequently used a deck of cards for divination.

Cartomancy or fortune-telling by playing cards

  

Cartomancy- is fortune-telling or divination using a deck of  playing cards. I don't have a lot of experience with this type of card reading, but I admire people that do. Hello, I am a Canadian-British Tarot & Astrology reader. I've had a taste for tarot since I was a little girl-  I recall my Mom and Dad took me to visit their very good friend for tea, and the lady read tarot and had a crystal ball. 

As a child I thought it was pure magic! 🌠

I started off studying Astrology, but soon moved on to reading tarot cards. Tarot has been my favorite for many years now. 

I have high accuracy in Psychometry, which is the psychic ability in which a person can sense or "read" the history of an object by touching it. I was also part of the test group for the ASP project (Anomalously Sensitive Persons) in connection to: The H.I.S.S. of the A.S.P. by author David Ritchey.
